Expand description

Signal, additive background, and total expected counts for one measured arm.

Background is expressed directly in the detector bins of that measurement and is added after source attenuation and instrument response. It is not the SAMMY additive transmission curve, and it is not convolved a second time by the instrument response.

Fields§

§neutron_signal: Vec<f64>

Neutron counts produced by source, sample, and instrument response.

§background: Vec<f64>

Independently supplied additive expected counts in the measured bins.

§total: Vec<f64>

Complete expectation, neutron_signal + background.

§window_loss: f64

Expected neutron counts lost outside the acquisition window, carried through from TwoArmCounts.

The pipeline-map contract (R5·7) requires the acquisition-window loss to stay disclosed rather than renormalized away. Forming a total expectation is exactly where that report would otherwise be dropped, so it travels with the arm it belongs to. Only the neutron signal can leave the window: a background template is supplied already binned into the acquisition, so it contributes no additional loss.
